Why Coaching Works

Updated: Sep 28, 2022

Today is my son's first day of kindergarten and he couldn't be more excited! This is a huge milestone for our family. When I decided to become a coach and start my own business over 2 years ago, this was the milestone I chose to decide whether to continue it or return to a traditional corporate job. I'm continuing Victoria Scott Coaching with expanded hours and space for a few more clients.

Why Coaching Works - see text below for Alt Text

I was inspired to become a coach after I was lucky enough to have a coach when I was working in a very toxic environment. My coach helped me realize that my supervisor's terrible behavior wasn't my fault, no matter how much they tried to blame me and my team for it, and that was a huge gift for a high performing person like me who just wasn’t equipped at that time to deal with a person like that. Now I'm paying that gift forward in my own coaching practice, helping others achieve their professional goals.

Why do people who have experienced Coaching say they'll never go back? Here are just a few reasons why coaching works!

  • Clarity. Most people repeat the same cycles because they lack clarity about what's really holding them back. I ask thought provoking questions to get to the heart of the matter and help you better understand yourself, what you want, and why that’s important to you.

  • Non-Judgement. Some people aren’t comfortable being truly honest about their concerns and their struggles for fear of judgement. Coaching is a confidential, judgement-free space where you can feel safe to fully express yourself and fully explore your challenges and opportunities.

  • Objective Feedback. Colleagues and loved ones may give great advice, but what worked for them might not be quite right for you. Their advice may also be coming from a place of protection or competition, and may hold you back from leaning into what you really want.

  • Action Plans that Work. Most people have tried to move forward, but have gotten discouraged or overwhelmed and given up. I help you create plans that help you keep moving forward no matter the outcome.

  • Accountability. You're not doing it on your own and need the dedicated time, structure, and accountability that coaching provides.
